Terms of Service — Thābit

These Terms govern your use of Thābit ("the App"), published by DeenTeachings ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What Thābit is

Thābit is a faith-based emotional companion for Muslims who are hurting, grieving, anxious, or spiritually tired. It offers reflection prompts, athkar, breathing patterns, journaling, and an AI companion called Sakinah.

Thābit is not:

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Thābit. If you are between 13 and 17, you must have a parent or guardian's permission. The App is rated 17+ in the App Store because it discusses topics including grief, anxiety, self-harm warning signs, and crisis support.

3. Account responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and contact us.

The Sakinah companion uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. You acknowledge that:

6. Your content

Anything you type into the App — journal entries, conversations, du'ā submissions — remains yours. We do not claim ownership. We do not publish, share, or sell your content.

You grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the App's features (e.g., relaying your Sakinah message to the AI, displaying your journal back to you, storing your habit progress).

7. Third-party services

The App relies on services from Google Firebase, Anthropic, and Sentry. Their respective terms apply to data they process. We choose providers we believe handle data responsibly, but we are not responsible for the actions of these third parties.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components. We do not warrant that any specific spiritual or emotional outcome will result from using it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither DeenTeachings nor its contributors shall be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.

This limitation does not apply where prohibited by applicable law.

10. Crisis and emergencies

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are in immediate danger, please use local emergency services or a crisis hotline. The App provides region-aware crisis resources but is not itself an emergency service.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → "Delete account". Deletion is immediate and permanent.

We may suspend or terminate the App, your account, or specific features at any time, with or without notice. If we discontinue the App, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and a final opportunity to export your data.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Lagos, Nigeria, except where local consumer-protection laws give you the right to pursue remedies in your own jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will surface it in the App and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a material change means you accept the new Terms. If you disagree, delete your account.
